All farmers or agricultural companies with land suitable for new plantings or permanent systems (e.g., arboreal) interested in undertaking sustainable agricultural practices can generate carbon credits.
The use of the Carborea standard and registry is free of charge. There are no costs associated with Carborea's specific activities.
Any costs may relate exclusively to services external to Carborea, such as:
- consultancy from a project developer for the drafting of the PDD (Project Design Document);
- audit activities for project validation and verification;
- preparation of the annual report.
Absorption is estimated using satellite data and IPCC models, integrated with on-field agronomic information. Credits are issued only after ex-post verification by independent bodies.
Compensation from the sale of carbon credits depends on various factors, such as: the number of trees planned for the project, the sustainable agricultural practices implemented, the starting baseline, and others that will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The income range from carbon credits can vary between €100/year and €600/year.
By starting a carbon farming project, the farmer commits for a minimum period of 20 years to comply with the management protocol defined during the contracting phase. This period is essential to guarantee the permanence of the CO2 absorption achieved by the project.
Yes. Projects are designed to integrate with existing agricultural activities, improving soil quality and productivity over time.
Various entities can handle the sale of your credits: brokers, the project developer, consultants, or Carborea directly.
Simply fill out the contact form: the technical team will evaluate the suitability of the land free of charge and provide an initial estimate of the CO₂ absorption potential.
